Marine Corps League Washington County
Detachment 1138

WE ARE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE #1138
“Once a Marine, always a Marine” is a familiar phrase to us all. Our diversity keeps us strong. Membership is not only comprised of Marine Corps veterans but also, the Navy and other branches, as well as hard chargers who have stepped up to represent the honor and traditions of the Corps as associate members. This blend of individuals bringing their distinctive skills for the overall success of the League is representative of who we are and personifies Esprit de Corps.

OUR MISSION
League members know a special bond of comradeship unique to those who have worn the Marine Emblem. The members look after one another. They observe national holidays such as Memorial Day and Veterans' Day, the anniversary of the flag raising at Iwo Jima and the day the Fourth Marine Brigade entered Belleau Wood.
The League performs some of its most important service on the local level through programs of benefit to our communities. Many detachments recognizing a need and embark on special programs to help advance their towns and cities.
Wreaths Across America

Our Detachment is an official fundraising group which participates in the "3-for-2 Program" with Wreaths Across America. This means 100% of all funds raised go directly toward the purchase of wreaths for our fallen at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom. It’s the mission of Wreaths Across America. You can join us by sponsoring a wreath, volunteering or partnering with us on National Wreaths Across America Day and every day.
Marine for Life

A transition assistance program that helps Marines and their families get settled back in the community when they leave active duty.
The program taps into the network of Marine veterans and Marine-friendly businesses, organizations and individuals that are willing to lend a hand to Marines who have served honorably.

The goal of the network is to harness the skills, knowledge, experience and personal and professional networks of Marine Corps veterans and others veteran-friendly individuals in the community—to form a network of support for our Marines.
Community Outreach Initiative

Detachment 1138’s new Community Outreach Initiative is off and running. We have partnered with several local organizations. The program provides volunteers from the Detachment to participate in various activities of community partners ranging from veteran organizations to mental health support associations.
Our goals are not only outreach, but engaging our veterans with growth in areas they may have never considered. Responsibilities vary and activities are diverse.
